A self-taught artist he feels that all artists should have a foundational understanding of art but art is conceived in the soul of the artist and instantiated with academic knowledge. seangarrison was an Artist-in-Residence at the Minnesota African-American Heritage Museum and Gallery and has shown his work at a multitude of venues throughout the Twin Cities area.

Stop Me When I'm Lying
This Breathin' Room is a preview of emerging work from seangarrison's contemporary painting series, Stop Me When I'm Lying. The 60-minute art experience is a multi-sensory exploration of America's contradictions—its pain and promise, its violence and tenderness, its smoke and light. seangarrison blends abstraction, portraiture, mixed media, and sculptural installations to question narratives and ignite conversations about justice, love, and collective healing through truth, which sometimes hurts.
Productive dialogue among room participants is encouraged and guided by a spoken word docent who will also perform the poems written in the paintings of Stop Me When I'm Lying. The art experience culminates in an open and honest conversation with the featured artist, seangarrison.
